About Me
I started in this field because I wanted to help guide people in restoring their sense of self and recognize their true and undeniable potential. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of therapy and want to normalize the stigma of therapy/counseling.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has over 9 years of experience in this field. I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) with a Bachelor in Child and Family Studies and Psychology. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work at Louisiana State University (LSU).
I have a wide range of experience working with teens, adults, and the geriatric community. I help individuals work through depression, anxiety, addiction, codependency, self-esteem, self-confidence, relationship issues, binge eating, and more.
I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated, open-minded, and willing to do the necessary work. By work, I mean skill-building and being honest throughout the process. Therapy takes time to build trust, but being open-minded can help facilitate our work more quickly.
I take joy in working with individuals who are wanting to make changes in their lives. I provide a trusting environment. I am here to guide you in the right direction through the use of evidence-based approaches.
My approach is utilizing a mixture of talk therapy, mindfulness, problem-solving, and skills-building — not limited to these methods only. By getting to know the client first I can determine what combination of different therapeutic techniques will best fit the client’s personal needs. I am constantly striving to broaden my knowledge and learn new techniques.
I am here to do whatever it takes to find your solutions. Through empathy, warmth, and respect we will work together toward improving your overall well-being, increasing satisfaction within your life, and cultivating a more positive outlook, and thus developing more coping mechanisms to inevitably see the world as a less scary place. This is not simply a “job” for me, I only desire to help others rise above their struggles through our therapy sessions. Through our work together you will gain awareness and insight into your feelings, and learn how to cope with them appropriately.
I often hear clients report feeling that I truly care. My genuineness, wanting what is best for you, and understanding that everyone needs help or guidance in their lives at some point informs how I practice therapy. I strive to continue to learn by increasing my knowledge and skills while addressing my own emotional and physical health. This balance of awareness of myself and of my clients allows for a more in-depth understanding of the issues I treat as I know how hard it is to reach out to someone and stay committed to the therapeutic process.
I am here to help you through this process.
